So as soon as telkom can get around to activating adsl on my recently installed line, I'm going to be using a 2mb uncapped WebAfrica account.

I've read about the Star system, but I can't find info on how much I get to download before my rating and service start degrading. Does anyone know?

According to WebAfrica it's totally dynamic i.e. there is no method of predicting ...

Best rule: download between midnight and 6am and all will be well.

Hi Markd,

How many GB do you intend on using a month?

I estimate I'll use around 100gb per month. I'm going to have several large game downloads and updates to do off the bat though so might break that in month 1. I can't see me doing more than that really

Then I would recommend going Per GB. If you are really wanting to use Webafrica then I would say go with the Business Per GB accounts. The normal Webafrica Per GB accounts are shaped.

Why not go for a capped account? You can go for our 60+60GB account for R199-00 per month and you wont need to worry about the star rating system as well as the data being on a higher priority on our network.

Sign up for our 2GB free for life account to see how the speed compares.

Why does your free 2gb signup want my credit card and/or debit order details if its free?
Is it really free or is it "free"

What you on about? You don't pay anything.

Follow the link and try signup for the free 2gb before diving...

You cant proceed without clicking credit card or debit order.... If you choose either you are prompted for either your credit or debit order details.
No ways I'm going enter anything if the product is free. Why do they need my credit card details? So they can bill me if I go over the free allocation...

It's a capped account :wtf:

I think all the weed is making you paranoid. It's quite common to ask for banking details with free offers to make sure people don't abuse it. Netflix does the same thing when you sign for their trial.

If they didn't do that you could just create separate accounts with a gmail address, then again with yahoo, then a live account and any other free email service you could think off.

I take offense to the weed part. Its not a weed its a herb gosh dammit get it right :p
[Does the whole of SA really think everyone from Durbs smokes weed? WTF LOL]

Seriously now, I rather stick to my free Afrihost 1gb account (which didnt need banking details or a DNA sample) as my backup test account.

I might do. I'm actually really not sure how much I'm going to use, so I'll see if I stay below the 120gb amount and if I do then perhaps I'll switch over

Apologies for the incorrect info supplied in previous post.

You will need to put in your payment details to get access to the account. This is to prevent multiple sign ups using a different email address.

We wont bill your account ever unless you purchase another product.

Couldn't you lock the free account to an ADSL line number to achieve the same effect?
