So what time does the throttling on a 2mb uncapped account end? It's now 18:50 and I'm getting marginally better than dial-up speeds on my brand new account. It's not very impressive at all.

Anyone know when the flood gates open? Or is something just wrong here?

Sounds like something might be wrong, I've been getting really goods speeds on my 10Mb since I switched to them last month

It's R100 more for the business account. Just do it. You won't regret it.

From what I have experienced, throttling is never a good thing. My previous isp used to throttle, and I drop them like a hot potato

Throttling is usually a 10 day rolling window or similar mechanism.

In other words if you overindulged today, you're screwed for the next 9 days...

No it's works on an average. So unless you also over indulged 9days ago you should be fine.

Also getting terrible speeds tonight. Eg. 5kb/s p2p. Capped account.

I just bought a 20G Capped from Afrihost,

Long story short, im *really* impressed with Afrihost.

WA say they've been experiencing "latency issues" which have been resolved (as per an email i received today). Can't say i've seen any improvement so i've sent them all that tracert stuff they require when there are speed issues.

What really irritates me is MTN's also useless these days so no ADSL and no mobile data

I'm about to do the same. My uncapped Telkom has become useless, my trial WA is unpredictable and its time to go back to Afrihost capped.

Axxess seems to be doing a lot better for you south guys.

LOL - I have just done the business uncapped thing with AH - its working well for me, but my fall back will be WA, hence my following this thread .....
