Did you ask them to update a record, or you asked for a domain transfer? A record update is almost like instant( in my experience) but a domain transfer from one ISP to another is the one which takes a while
Record update
Well I've done those a couple of times with Mweb and I think it only takes as long as the TTL and walla we pointing to a new IP. Not sure why webafrica takes that long. From my understanding changing nameservers should be the one that requires the lengthy replication and the rest of the zone updates use TTL
If its true they close over the weekend I'm gone. They claim to have support 24/7 but lately I've also experienced problems. Sadly the WA rep seems to be absent from myBB Saturdays and Sundays too.
It's OK for things to go wrong now and again but a good support system is essential.
I must say their support has sunk to new depths and it's a shame because that used to be their advantage over other ISPs.
Nope bud, they cocked it up and then needed to change it, they advised they changed it and can have replication in 2 hrs, its now over 18 - i guess braindrain and they closed on weekends - madness
I highly agree, someone *** d somewhere. Record updates should not take that long at all if my experience is anything to go by. I actually no longer fear downtime and have asked for updates during production hours and after a few minutes I get to see traffic hitting the new IP. Best of luck hope they sort you out today
I've seen this on the forum before and I'm going to repeat it here. Don't go to a steak house and order the fish. Similarly, don't go to a fish & chip shop to order the steak. You won't get what you paid for and you will be dissapointed.
Web Africa is an ISP, who happens to offer email and hosting. Does that mean the "steak" will be good? No. Go with someone like elitehost.co.za
They know what they're doing and they ONLY do hosting. So you know the guys are clued up. The longest I have ever had to wait for them was 8 minutes. In fact, I was so used to crappy service, that I was the one who was delaying things by not responding to tickets fast enough!

A bunch of sites just went down around 10pm 11 March including mysql database servers and emails. Urgh.
