So I read all the threads and ISP discussions and they pretty much are equal.

ADSL line is getting installed now (4MB). I narrowed down my choices to the following:

Webafrica (3GB complete/unshaped) R 726 + R 125 (line rental) = R 851
Nexus (3GB unshaped) R 349 + R 413 (fastest DSL) + R 125 (line rental) = R 887
OpenWeb (3GB + 3GB - IS Fibre) R 189 + R 413 (fastest DSL) + R 125 (line rental) = R 727
OpenWeb (5GB Saix ADSL) R 239 + R 413 (fastest DSL) + R 125 (line rental) = R 777

Main use is for online gaming (PS3) and international access/overseas sites. Very little use in local cap. Which one would you suggest?

Also - Telkom is charging for 4GB unshaped R489 + R413 + R 125 = R 1027 - WTF?

FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

Nexus also has a Semi-Shaped 3GB + 3GB for R189 (making ur total R727), they were also one of the first to offer Semi-Shaped/IS Fibre and afaik the first to offer a prepaid version of it (Custom DSL) which is what I'm on and its awsome cause it is not limited to any cap and the unused data is carried over! So if I use 3GB in one month or only 1GB the next month I'm never losing out since I'm only ever paying for what I want/use. :)

Axxess offers IS Fibre Semi-shaped on prepaid also, but it's much more expensive.

MagicDude4Eva, since you say your usage is predominantly international, I would highly recommend you go with the IS Fibre Semi-shaped offering over any SAIX offering (shaped or unshaped). See link in my signature...

Was not able to signup with Openweb or Nexus - at least Webafrica answers the phones - let's see how it works out. Can always change later. Had a chat with the Telkom technician and exchange is about 2 1/2 km away and connected all the way optical.

Doing some readings on the Netgear shows excellent stats on SNR/attenuation. Did some Speedtests with the technician..... ADSL FTW (bye bye iBurst :D)

I am a long time WA customer, but I just recently signed up with Nexus prepaid and have to say that they're pretty good

I have used Nexus prepaid and have to say that their control panel is among the most slick I have seen.

I pay them by means of EFT and the great thing is they trust you enough to top up your account without necessarily having the funds as reserve (this has happened a few times when I need to download updates, etc).

All three of the names listed are top - notch in my opinion, though.

ADSL installation is great - no comparison to iBurst.

Got good line quality
Speed 4096/512
Attenuation 17db(down) / 8.5db (up)
SNR 28.4(down) / 14db (up)

International speedtest (New York - server):
327ms ping (iBurst 2 seconds) / 1800kbps down / 285kpbs up (iBurst (300/120)

Congrats. Great stats. (<-- that rhymes!!!)

If you think the speed and latency is good now, wait until you give IS Fibre Semi-shaped a go ;)

Enjoy.
