Hi am new to this forum but was wondering if any one has ever worked with Webafrica. I am specificly interested in their prepaid ADSL packages. Is the R70 package only for local surfing or is for international also?

Nice does that also include line rental from telkom or must I still pay telkom for the use of 6miles of copper wire?

All above is correct, so to be able to use that R70 you need the following (this is pretty much the cheapest option and minimum requirements):

Telkom Telephone Line: R 111-90
DSL 384 Line Rental: R 152-00
Your Web Africa 1 Gig Prepaid: R70-00

Thus your total minimum monthly cost will be R 333-90

1 gig is not a lot of usage for most people, I do have a friend that manages on a 1 gig account though. She just uses it for email, Skype calls and normal browsing of web pages.

What is nice about the prepaid option is that if you do not use the full 1 gig in a month, it will carry over to the next month, or how ever many months you take to use it up.

Many people (myself included) buy this 1 gig Webafrica account as a backup to their main ISP account. If you get capped on your main ISP account you can just fall back on your Prepaid account until the end of the month, what ever is left over in that account then stays there until the next time you get capped (could be many months down the line).

Or you can save slightly, and go with the DSL complete package:

R199 (1Gig, DSL 384 Line Rental)
R111.90 (Telkom Telephone Line)
--------
R310.90

Yes the above is an option (It is called DoBroadband 1 from Telkom, you can get an 'all in one' package from other ISP's such as Webafrica if you prefer)

The main difference between this and what you originally asked for is that this is a month to month option and thus if you have not used up your full '1 gig', say you have 250 megabytes left, you will loose this at the end of the month. Your prepaid option will carry over the 250 megabytes.

If you are a low user you might find the prepaid option will suite you more and might actually save you money.

I cannot say what is best for you, it is all about what you need. I personally have many ISP accounts (all for 'home' usage). Last month I managed to clock up 51 gigs. Many people on this site will use more. They including myself pay through their ear for it but it all boils down to what you want and more importantly what you need.

Go with Webafrica. The prices are good and their service is great.

Good point, Webafrica's Service is more than great. I have only had an excellent customer experience using them. Their website can do pretty much everything you want, but if you are not sure, their call centre staff actually know what they are talking about and can help you (technical level or non technical level).
