Use Hamachi. www.hamachi.cc It's a NO COST VPN App. As long as you have a direct connection to the hamachi auth server, you can connect up to 14 other pcs to it for free !!!!

hamachi

i have installed it and it looks like its running, i have also configured my app to run on the ip is asigned to me, but my brother cannot connect or ping my ip? im running via a gigabyte router and am not sure if i need to set anyting up there.

i can ping myself and access the webcam on the server pc.

thanks Obelix for the super fast reply,

i would realy like to get it working like it should, my isp will not open a port for me as they say it will open up the chances of hack and internet theft.

will software packages like http-tunnel or free vpn help. there must be a way that it can be done????
Http or Socks tunneling is the only way in which you are going to be able to get through your NAT'd connection and broadcast to the rest of the world.

Problem is you need to be connecting to something on the other end, if you can persuade your IT guy at work to allow you to use an open port and get that forwarded to your PC you will be able to get a working solution. You will of course need to run a tunnel client on your home PC and a tunnel server on your work PC.

Your ISP sounds a bit dodge, I would be more inclined to believe they are sharing IP addresses between multiple users to save costs rather then them being worried about you being hacked.

Hope your office IT guy is friendlier than your ISP ;)

Although hamachi looks like a great little app, it does however still require port forwarding which is explained in their FAQ. So unfortunately it won't quite work in this case, it looks like tunneling direct to your work PC (with the help of your office IT guy) will be your only option.

at work there are just 2 pcs, office and workshop, the workshop pc is connected to the office one, office pc is connected to the internet via wireless connection. (not the same isp) ics is enabled on office pc alowing workshop pc to connect.

could you explain to me what i need to do on the office pc? i have installed hamachi on workshop and office pcs, they can access eachother 100% - the fact that they on the same lan makes it a bit pointless, but was just to test.

arnt all the settings that i need to do on my side not on the office pc? im going home at 12 to try udp port forwarding on my router but i fear this will be pointless if its just going to be blocked on the isp side.

if there is anyone out there with hamachi running that could join my network to test it out.

thanks
