Ok... here goes, I have a LAMP server at home, hosting my sites with no problems, but my current host can't seem to get everything working the way I want it to work.

What are the steps that I have to follow to get my LAMP server on the Net.

I do not want to get a static IP before I know this will work.

Any advice would be very appreciated.

Assume the low cost/free route, hence ZoneEdit and za.net:
1. Create yourself a dynDNS account at http://www.dyndns.org.

2. If your router can update dynDNS, provide it the needed info; else download software/scripts to do it from any windows or Linux box behind the router.

3. Create an account with http://www.zoneedit.com (there are others, but make sure they allow you to create a CNAME record for free, giving it the za.net/org domain you want to use (make sure it is available). You might want to give it a bit of time to confirm the name servers are answering for your domain by giving it a day or so before proceeding, or confirming that it works by using dig.

4. Register a za.net or za.org domain at http://www.za.net with the name server details provided by ZoneEdit. You will wait an arbitrary period of time before the domain is registered.

5. Create the CNAME record at ZoneEdit for you .za.net domain to point to the dynDNS.org dynamic DNS account you created.

And hopefully bob is your uncle (not the Zim bob)
