Hi Guys ,

Is there anyway that ISP's keep a history of the content you browse ? I realise that they would look for things like child porn etc etc but if required can I dispute a bill and ask for the supposed sites I browsed on a report ? Also does this apply to the Cellular industry on 3G ? I remember something about a government law that states the ISP cannot do this actually and therefore they tell you they cannot run these reports.

Haa haa no , not that. I wanted a report but I believe that you need a avidavit from the cops and then it takes like a few months. This is becos the law protects the users re the privacy act or something like that ? I just wanted the official stance on this and where can I get proof of it.

Hi,

I assume you may want to dispute a bill related to bandwidth? Your website history won't cover that, bandwidth is consumed by lots of other things such as VOIP. If you find that you get billed for a lot more than you think you should, your most likely issue is that you have a virus or a rogue network card. The bandwidth accounting of ISPs generally is accurate and you should rather look at the problem on your side.

cheers
