Hi all,
I'm not happy with any of our political parties nor how or govt just go ahead and make decisions on it's citizens behalf with very little if any accessible consultation.

So I've started a prototype website
https://poll-za.rf.gd
to get the concept of an idea across.
do you think this is worth pursuing ?

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions, assistance welcomed.

Thanks in Advance

I don't get the idea immediately...

See: https://cpt.za.net/2024/02/04/2024-south-african-pre-election-poll-your-voice-your-choice/

And https://vote.za.net

Your biggest hurdle is that +/- 80% of South Africans are not online...
Thanks for these links, kinda similar but single issue.
Is the offline figure still as high as that ?
Eskom doesn't help and many rural areas don't have connectivity but google says about 73% are connected, if google is to be trusted ;)

Thanks again for your response and the links

If I may ask, what is the complete goal here? I don't really get the registration part tbh.

But it seems that you're really planning to make a political forum. Which is cool.

My recommendation is to get rid of the fluff, focus on the forum, and maybe integrate the "polls" into the forum section of yours in a less convoluted way. This could potentially be a good thing and inspire better political idea contestation on SA Interwebs than Twitter (which is just filled with Black and White nationalist screaming) or even myBB.

Your CSS is quite good tho, a lot better than mine :notworthy:

P.S. Are you going to make things open-source or closed-source?
In order for it to be trusted all code should be open source and publicly available.

Also, mandatory repping of my website :ROFL::

Also,

I don't feel my demographic is represented enough on the front page, therefor it is bad and from the devil

Basically to keep it to a South African forum, use of ID number will hopefully help self moderation and improve discourse.

Yep this is just a concept, I'm trying to figure it out as I go along so much fluff.
I'm no CSS guru, these are just templates I edited as needed lol.
Yes having the code available for scrutiny is important if at a later date we can work with the IEC.

lol, sorry about that, it's just a stock template that I edited, if you have quality graphics I can replace the stock ones.

clearly the stock template does not cover my demographic, so it feels like I am being baited into identifying myself, which I refuse to do, but would still like to be represented. /s

Good luck on your venture, its never easy to get people to use a website/technology consistently the way you want them to use it, never mind the scale you are trying to get to. I hope it doesn't end up taking all your free time to get this going

Take some free stuff and go to a township. There is no other way. You can't sit at a keyboard and solve this problem.

I think using ID numbers for a forum are a bit too much. Maybe you can IP block rather?

Ok then

Put it on your GitHub then

They're trolling you bruv.

Honourable @RedViking lay off the guy, he's new :p
I'm not trolling. The problem with website "ideas" are they are just that. It takes a lot of work and business planning. Just creating a WordPress landing page and and link a XenForo Forum Software (or whatever ) and then expect other to build it for you, is the wrong way to go about it. If you want a political forum you will have to be very diverse in your approach, from design to excution, if you do want a non-biased discussions, to some degree anyways and attract a wider demographic. I click that link and it screams DA or VF or even something for Afriforum.

Work PC blocked me from going to that website

That number is probably based on free wifi availability per area and not the number of active users.

Many informal settlements are still unconnected and the struggle is real even in connected previously disadvantaged areas. Crime and poverty mean many remain without devices.

Reach can be extended by integrating WhatsApp portal functionality which can easily be shared even to low end devices.
