Hi Guys this is very bizarre.

I need to do some printing through my online printers website.

But every single time I visit the site my 3g connection disconnects, or there is no data pass through.

How on earth can this be?

Modem: Using backup Nokia 5800 XM
ISP: CellC 2gig

May it be that the 5800 only have a certain speed limit and then the data on the site (which is quite a lot) drop the connection when it starts downloading?

I had some trouble last week downloading a file.

Why is everything else working?

Tried everything I can think of, but still no luck.

Works fine at home, but this work PC, No Go... very frustrating!

Lots of Flash on the site, maybe my Flash plugin?

Driving me nuts...

Tried 3 different browsers as well.
Limited the connection to 50KB/s
Still disconnects.

Everything fine on my PC at home though.

Remove the Nokia, load the latest Nokia PC Suite and test it again? (remove previous version of PC Suite first).

Just an update...

I'm really curious as to what is causing this. I have not updated the Nokia PC suite as yet, but at the moment it seems like modem instability at high speeds, funny thing though it only happens to some sites and downloads.

Could be a Driver issue, that's why I suggest going with the latest PC Suite doing the process as above. PC Suite contains the drivers of 99% of Nokia phones, so an update may be needed.

Many years ago, in the dial-up days, some websites included (by way of being a geek) the following line:

+++
ATH

Early 56K modems were not able to handle this running text and it caused the modem to interpret these as direct instructions:

The pluses for attention. (ie, bring modem into command mode)
ATH tells the modem to hangup.

http://h.ackack.net/icmp-modem-hangup-dos-rce.html has a little bit about this.

I never saw it in actual working hacks. I wonder if a similar data stream can crash a cellular modem connection.

EDIT: Here's more
