Good day Broad banders......

Im needing some help/advice pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee..

I paid a certain individual to design me a website.... i gave him the layout and told him the ideas i wanted...

He got the layout and the ideas right... BUT!!!!!!

Everything else is wrong.... i asked him to do the site for job advertising. with the key focus on overseas jobs, hence the name (Jobsawaysa). i also asked him to integrate the ability to allow for advertising on the site to which he said no problem. Once the site was done he came up with so many excuses why he couldnt do what i wanted. Bearing in mind that i had paid already. Now im sitting with a site that makes absolutely no sense and i need it fixed.

Here is the link www.jobsawaysa.co.za/osclass

If anyone can maybe advise me on how i can fix it or get it fixed i would greatly appreaciate it...

Some of the problems on the site:

On the left there is the regions around south africa.... ( i dont want to advertise local jobs.. so i dont want that there.

The publish your add page looks like the gumtree selling page.. i dont want to sell anything...!!!!

The web address includes the /osclass at the end... which i dont want either...

I dont want to pay this guy another cent to fix it.... please let me know should anyone be able to help..

Greatly appreciated

How much did you pay this guy? No offence, but its not the prettiest site. And the URL structure.... :erm:

So this is a website for advertising jobs... but wtf? I'm lost.

I paid for what he promised... when he got into it all he realized he had under charged me and gave me what i ended up with.... not quite fair but such is life hey.... and i agree with you its not the prettiest around...

ur not the only one thats lost... you should see some of the "fanmail" i have received... not very nice... and the problem is the people that have already taken time to look at the site are so put off by it now they wont be returning.... maybe i should just delete the whole idea...

The CMS used is for classified ads, not job listings. Maybe if a more focused CMS was used, like this 'http://www.phpjabbers.com/job-listing-script/demo.php' you would have better results. No affiliation to site, found it on google.

Firstly, 'osclass' is an open source classifieds web application that you can use to create classified sites.

The number 1 problem in this industry - software development (that I am in also), is that you get these shaddy people that promise the world and want to make a quick buck buy just throwing in a free/open source system and do a few customizations. They don't actually know how to code nor modify the system to meet the clients needs.

In-fact, for something like this, you could have gotten a custom web app to meet your needs.

Get a refund and get a real developer to create your idea.

Edit: Also be willing to pay decent money to get what you want from a professional. Plus, that layout is horrible, he couldn't even get a decent template. Logo needs work too.

Appreciate the feedback

I asked him to do the logo with specific colours and ya what he came up with was far from it...

Would you have an idea of how much it would cost me... as i said in my thread i spent money on this already..

school fees. Try again with someone reputable. Try House as above but I doubt it will be free

Never pay in advance for work done.
There seems to be no recourse that way.
And when they demand it run and look for someone else to do the work.

Never pay full upfront. 50% is reasonable as I got burnt twice when clients didn't pay anything and then received complete working products.

I do this in my free time. I will see if I can't maybe help you out in some way.

I won't charge you since I don't know if I can deliver yet, but I'll do something over the weekend for you.

Ahhh, okay.... "Too many reasons" now I am curious.

I have never came across any complaints in relation to his business dealings on MyBB. There are also Forumnites on MyBroadband which utilised his assistance and business skills to acquire website design and development, perhaps other services as well.

Why he was banned? He went on a crusade.
