I was not too sure about the title but here is the story.

There is an external website that I am trying to access on the company network. This website automatically comes up with a login failure screen. however if I go to the same website on a 3G card or any other external connection then it brings up the login username and password dialog box as it is supposed to.

The IT Guys have been struggling for days now and I have lost faith. all i can say is that the network is a combination of Novell and MS servers. Workstation logging on to Novell. I am also not able to log on to any password protected FTP sites on the company network.

I believe that there is something on their server that they need to either turn off or on but I don't know what.

Thank you in advance.

this is tough because it could be a number of things.
Can u log onto other secure password sites? like banking etc?
Is it jsut your machine?
what machine/OS are you using?
Do you go through a proxy server?

Hmmm, tell me,using an ISA firewall on your network for Internet proxy?

There is a specific trojan I noticed that attempts to tunnel traffic and doesn't allow for authentication that describes this issue pretty well

*Edit clarification: it doesn't authenticate to the local proxy and thus doesn't pass valid credentials to the destination

It almost sounds like some sort of security scheme, such as IP blocking. Maybe someone from that IP address (which would I assume be a single public IP servicing a NAT IP network) tried to access it unsuccessfully too many times? Then the reason for being to access it on 3G/ other internet connection would be because those IPs wouldn't be blocked.
