hey guys

This may seem weird but i need to see what websites have been visited on a computer (dont worry im not violating any laws against privacy) i own the machine. BUT if they had all been cleared (the tools , options, delete all) way, is there any other way to see the URL history, in the registry? deep down? even after the whole deletion thing surely its not REALLY gone or is it?

If not is there a programme that could recover it or something?

Thank You

Matt ;)

Short of tossing your hard drive into a volcano, there is no sure way to delete your data so that nobody can recover it.

As far as I know, when you ask Firefox to delete your privacy data, it's gone. You wont be able to find it unless you go and use data recovery software to recover deleted files. That is not something you typical hacker would go though the hassle of doing.

i know firefox store all of it's data in the following 2 folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\33vf23f7.default
and
C:\Documents and Settings\<username\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\33vf23f7.default

Running a file wiping utility on selected files in this folder should clean it pretty thoroughly.

I don't know about IE since i don't trust it to protect anything.

PGP has a program that can erase (shred) files and make them unrecoverable. It can also shred free space by overwriting a number of times (more times is better, 18X is military grade.). So, yes it can be done.

That's not what he's asking. He's not deleting evidence of pron - he wants to see where his computer has been.

@chiskopI was responding to the above chap. Do keep up ;)

Matt if you want to make sure your kids don't watch pron, you are better off not knowing coz the answer would probably be yes :)
