My client was complaining that they were using enormous amount of 3G data. He has used 4gigs over the past 5days. I switch off automatic updates, but still using alot.

I then installed a data monitor, Sha something and it showed that when I open a normal website it uses like 30mb. These are websites like Gmail, Vodacom. That just doesn't sound right to me.

He is situated at the airport, so unfortunately no ADSL option.

Can someone please guide me or tell me if this is correct or what should I do. There are 2 laptops, 1 with Windows 7 and 1 with Windows 8.

Who is he with? My vodacom 3gb 3g data finished pffft in 2 days, no special reason, whereas with cell C 3gb can last me a week or longer.
Logged a complaint with vodacom, all they say though that it is updates or something, just BS

windows 8 does automatic checks and updates without you knowing. Lots of complaints when it first came out about that. there's a way to disable it, just google it.

I thought about that, but I don't think its Vodacom. Because I installed a Data Meter reader or something. And it shows that its the PC downloading some stuff or something is making it extravagantly big

Had a similar issue a while back and found a installed browser add-on was causing the high usage. Can't remember what it was but was automatically installed when my client downloaded some or other free software.
