Looking for a simple web design program where i can watch videos from the website on the phone.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

The site does not need to be professional or candy for the eye.

I want to create a personal web site which is only accessible on my LAN.

You can use the <video/> tags in HTML 5 or you'll need to download a script and have a look at what they do (use it as is or copy paste out the good parts). A quick Google searched showed something called PHPMotion.

No Internet should be used at all from the phone just wifi.

Thanks Hamster, I will have a look at this.

Does it have to be a website? Can't you just stream the video to the phone through VLC?

I did try vlc last night but it didn't work the way I would like it to work, I want to select any movie or episode and play it from the personal website, where as vlc streams a certain episode and you have to watch that specific 1 currently playing.

I am currently using Abyss file server, of course when trying to open a video file it only wants to download and not play it which is obvious being a file server.

Why not just use Plex Media server if you want to playback media? Plex has apps for mobile devices and a web front end.

How would it work? You install plex on your pc and plex on your mobile and set it up? Only hiccup is I am using symbian3.

Theres your problem ;)

I had the option to stream entire playlists/libraries through VLC as far as I can remember. Else as they suggest, Plex (and maybe XBMC) can do it.

I like XBMC very much but still is not doing what I would like it to do the web interface for XBMC works more like a remote to change what you are watching on your HTPC. But still its a very cool program glad you introduced me to it.
