Are there any websites that can be visited for free using ISP from this country without incurring data charges. I know 8.ta and Google were experimenting with a "Freezone" concept whereby anyone could surf Gmail, GoogleSearch and the first page of a search result for free. This trial seems to have been discontinued.

Is there anything that is similar, preferably on 8.ta as I have their mobile broadband. I know you could visit a couple of https website on CellC for free some time ago since I've left Cell C I dont know if this is still possible.

If there are please List them or PM.

It really helps if you post questions like this in the right forum. This is the news forum.

I dont understand what you are trying to do, surely there isnt much to consume on those pages?
The telkom website is usable on adsl using the telkom test account but Im not aware of any 3g based services that are zero rated.

Well I was hoping there were some "loopholes" which ISP would not bother closing if they are immaterial. Just like unintentional free access to https vesrsion of Facebook on Cell C long ago.

Theoretically most, if not all, the cellular providers' pages are 'zero-rated' if you are on that network, e.g. using Vodacom, it's supposed to be free to browse their home page and all the underlying pages. But I would assume that if you click any link on any of those pages leading to an external site (e.g. manufacturer's specifications for a cellphone on offer) then the zero-rating stops.

What would be needed to setup a website like this?

From what I can gather you would need to directly do this with someone like CellC or perhaps WebAfrica.

Basically: I want to surf the net for freeeeeeeee

Depends which isp is involved, not all have this option.

For now I'm trying to workout what is involved in the process and who might be able to give me a solution. Seems no-one has thought about "charge-back" internet websites :erm:
