I'm not gonna marry any time soon, just asking out of interest, might start saving up or something.

White wedding btw, all costs/expenses involved.

I think my wedding costs totalled around 250k. But this is for 200+ guests, and included a trip to india for clothes, jewelry etc... luckily, our families paid for it - indian tradition.

Hugely open ended question dude.

But R50k minimum to R150k and beyond - depending on your tastes.

For a venue with 100 guests, you're looking at roughly R30k with food. R5k minimal flowers. R5k+ for dress, suit etc. Then you've got wedding rings, honeymoon costs, the list just goes on. You get the picture. It all adds up fast!!

Got married a few months ago. Cost R65000 for 65 people. Parents sponsored a bit and I paid the rest.

My advice save on the wedding and spare no expense on the honeymoon.

I'm getting married in a couple of months.
My wallet is feeling it though :)

Dress: (To hire one) R8000
Church: R2500
Venue: (Food not included): R10000
Flowers: R8000
Food (120 guests): R33000
Photographer: R12000
Booze: R8000
Car: R1500
Cards: R2000

Stuff that I cannot remember as I'm not a girl: R20 000

Total: R100k

Its against my principles to pay that much for a wedding while people are starving, but I also realize that its the day every girl dreams about forever, so I'm prepared to postpone buying a new car for a year or two to get this for her.
If we went all cheap, we'd be able to do it for R60k.
If we were to go super cheap and I cut on guests, we'd be able to do R45k, which is still insane.

Dang things ain't cheap! 12k for a photographer!

That's really average as well and you won't find them going for much cheaper. They have various packages to choose from however, with some being quite a bit more expensive than the others. Even then, you won't find reputable ones charging less than R10k for their services, easily.

R60k minimum.(few guests, get some things for cheap or free, ask for discount etc etc on a tiny farm somewhere where someone is kinda doing you a favour type of thing)
R100k (you'll get there no problems) try and stop there

Thing is its like a virus of some sort you dont notice how much you're spending till its too late!

We went cheaper with the photographer.

We're using Gilliam, his wife is his second photographer and she's a videographer as well, so you're getting two products at once.

We know a photographer that was R10k in June, then he won wedding pic of the year.
He's now R25000

R12k is REALLY good value-for money (as is our rest of our wedding, which is scary since it adds to R100k)

We're thinking about getting married in Mauritius next year, just the two of us, and rather having a nice honeymoon. Between buying a house and not having parents to foot the bill we can't have a huge wedding anyway. I'm still budgeting 50-60K though.

I got married in Jan earlier this year. Only 80 guests and cost about 180k. (this did include flights I paid for 2 family members about 25k) Nothing fancy in my view, it just all adds up. Don't get a low budget or crappy photographer/videographer, that's all you will have in years to come. So be prepared to spend at least 12k each.

I also agree with doobyscoo, the wedding day you miss out on so much and it happens so quick, rather save for an awesome honeymoon that the 2 of you will enjoy.

Friends of mine had a "cheap" wedding (ended up being the most fun one last year, out of the eight that I attended.) and they paid R65-R70k for their wedding. That included everything for about 100 guests, this I am told is a good 15-20k below normal prices.
