Wedding Photographer & Videographer wanted

Hi there,
No idea if this is the correct thread, If not, Well, sorry.

So I need a photographer & videographer for next year March, In Centurion area. Can anyone recommend me someone good. Preferable someone who can do both (Not sure if it works like that). Also, someone who is not going to charge me a ludicrous amount. Not going to be stingy or anything, But please, I cannot afford someone who charges 30k for a days work. This is a very small wedding.

If you know someone who can only do photos, and they don't charge an insane amount. I'm good with that as well :)

The SO just told me I have to get a Photographer and a Videographer. So I though hey, its the same industry, 2 birds...1 stone...lol
But Ja, I suppose you are right. Unless its like a team or something.

I honestly don't even know why one needs wedding photos. Who ever looks at this crap. I have never, in my life, looked at anyone's wedding photo's. Its a total waste of money IMO. Everyone has a cellphone, take a few snaps and tag her in them. Unfortunately my views and that of the SO are worlds apart in this regard.

The Video is only to be fancy, Nothing else. The response i will get is the kids will one day want to look at them. I have not even looked at my parents wedding photo's. I could just not care less. Give me a few nice nature photos, Sure I love looking at those. But wedding photos....:cautious::cautious:

I actually have looked at someone's wedding photos, They created a video type collage with music and I was tricked/forced into looking at them at a braai. At first I thought its a joke, But nope, Sure as hell they had the audacity to think I actually want to look at it and then played it on the TV....

Why, I want to get married lol, Its just everything that goes with it that gets to me. The event self, you know....I would have been perfectly happy getting married in a court. Its an astronomical amount of money blown on 1 fcking party basically.
But ja, for the sake of love and peace, I'm doing it her way.

Probably the best way to go, but if your fiancee has different ideas you're in trouble.

You're most likely looking at a team who offers both photo and video, with one person handling photo and one person handling video. There may be additional staff to help assist.

You might not think about it now, but in a few years those captured moments will be priceless. The older you get, the more your memories become more valuable.

Every 5 years, we get together with my family and my sister and watch her wedding Dvd, we have a few good laughs and also remember the people that left us or moved away, never to be seen again.

You can't put a price on time....
 
Ive done the photos and the videos








Long story short the fact is this, no one actually gives a **** looking at all of the videos afterwards. And when they are shoved this kak in their faces they pretend and smile and whatever, faking it. I promise you I have seen this a gazillion times in my previous life of offering this wedding service.

Just get a proper photographer that comes recommended from previous friends who did get married, have the photos printed and made into a wedding album for the coffee table. And then it will get shoved into a bookcase a few months later.

Another pro tip I learnt attending these marriage events is this, buy a disposable film camera with flash for each table and let the people at the table of 10 or whatever take snaps as the night progresses. You get lekker smiling photos that night without people feeling pressured into smiling for a Pro photographer that just arrives at the table.

It's the most boring thing to see. Even after two years of divorce it's still not entertaining.
 
If I could redo my wedding it will have 6 people only .
 
If your wedding is open bar, I'll do both for free.

Disclaimer: I have no experience as either a professional photographer or videographer.

It's not a day's work, it's much much more. Unless you want them to just give you the memory card afterwards with a 100 unedited photos on it.
You would be surprised the amount of work that goes into it.
Then there's the cost of equipment as well.

As Madhawk has said, you will one day want to look back at the memories. Well, if the marriage lasts at least.

I agree on the video part though. I don't see myself ever watching the wedding video if we had one made.

This is the photographer we used for our wedding. He gave us a package which only included what we wanted and was decently affordable.
I don't know if he still does weddings though.

Yep videos were a thing in the 90s. Now wouldn't be able to watch something more than 30 mins.
