So I am getting married in December and my wife to be wants me to wear my wedding band once we do. I am not one that wears jewelry, I don't even wear a watch. So if I am going to wear a ring then it better be cool and have some inside joke value.

I am currently toying with the idea of getting The One ring and use it as my wedding band. No, it won't turn me invisible though :p Other ideas is getting a ring with some sort of celtic (AKA dwarven) runes on them.

Any ideas?

Men who wear wedding rings get hit on. Something about woman wanting what they can't have.
Tell your wife that.

Bearing in mind that the idea of people getting married is supposed to be for a lifelong commitment, the ring that you choose will be with you for a very long time.

Similar to a tattoo, something novel @ a particular stage in one's life might seem like a good idea @ the time, it doesn't always translate to a good idea in the future.

There are some awesome rings made from Titanium which can either be intricate or plain & stylish without costing a fortune. Titanium will last a lifetime & is a very strong & scratch resistant metal. Tungsten is also an option.

I'm of the opinion that a guy's wedding ring should be understated, without bling & shinyness.

As mentioned by Vegeta, a D-Shape is a good choice because it doesn't hook on clothes, surfaces etc. & you will eventually get used to wearing the band and will notice it when you are not wearing it as opposed to when you are.

I’ve seen some interesting designs done in silver where shapes are cut-out of the metal. Silver is however not a very strong metal which will scratch easy and won't look as good as the harder metals after a few years.

Search the web for guy's wedding bands and if you find something you like, ask a small manufacturing jeweller to make it for you or go to one of the smaller jewellers for something more unique & less common than what is sold in the retail/chain jewellery stores.

Also remember to choose something that doesn't fit too tightly, otherwise in the summer when your hands swell, you'll struggle to take it off.

Also keep in mind that rings with engravings etc. become dirty, grimy & have to be cleaned more often.

ur wife must love you very much

I wouldnt get anything that has a "joke" connotation to it. Get a plain and simple band. Be happy for the rest of your life

I've always wondered how hard Titanium really is? Is it so hard that if you can't get it off for some reason and it needs to be cut, a pair of cutters wont be able to cut it? Because that wont be good in an emergency situation.

I was going to get a plain gold band until the jeweller showed me the black titanium ones. Understated, not "blingy" and it's titanium which is cool.

You shouldn't get married again if you already have a wife. :erm:

I said 'wife to be' :P

Hrm, everyone I know has a titanium ring. I think that the best thing to do would be to go visit some stores and try various rings on. Also good call on the engravings getting filled with grime. I don't expect that my ring would get very dirty as I basically 'type on a computer' for a living. :D

LOL, I actually call my ring The One Ring, though not for its relation to Tolkien. It's just really heavy. I mean surprisingly heavy. This is my second marriage and probably born from some misplaced one-upmanship, I decided to have my then-fiancee's ring made from Platinum. I did the design myself (something organic to match one of my fiancee's tattoos). My fiancee then took her ring to the same jeweller and had my ring made as a more manly version of her ring. So instead of the design being 'lacey' and 'cut-out', it was engraved around the whole ring as a repeating pattern.

You should edit your post to let my lame joke make sense!

white gold 18k. understated, classic design. nothing fashionable (it will date quickly). make sure it fits! the first month or so, mine felt a little tight at times, and i took it off to shower. but after about two months, i never took it off any more and it was way comfier :)
