I'm getting married some time this year  Please share any tips that you have to make the day interesting and unique.
And also if you know of any creative way of saving some money here and there, as we know these things are hellova expensive  I like simple things ie stand in the bush somewhere and get the dominee to do his job finish and klaar which should be simple and cheap but ya its not up to me

The best way to save loads of money, frustration, aggravation, and headaches is to NOT get married. The expense, aggravation and headaches DOES NOT STOP with the reception NO. That is the START of everything. :D

Jokes aside Keep the ceremony small intimate and special. The amount of people does not make the day special it's the quality of people you surround yourself with. My sister in-law had a wedding reception with 30 people and they still gush about how good it was.

Good luck

Venue and caterers are the biggest expenses. I'm getting married in October and in the end we actually moved the date because of the perfect venue at the perfect price.

The caterer is on site in our case which also made it cheaper. No travel, no extra staff, no extra equipment etc. And the caterer also does the decorating of the function.

Make sure you know what your venue/caterer offers and does not offer. That will already save you lots of stress and in the end money when you shop around for other options.

And yes. Keep it small. We can invite 200 people but we are only inviting close relatives and friends. Got it down to about 100 max.

I worked at the Spur in Parow (Cape Town), I remember at least 3 wedding receptions being held there.

Great guys thx keep um coming i could use all the advice out there. Any ideas for entertainment, i dont just want people to sit down, finish their food and go home

I'm a marriage officer, I'll marry you for free in your house! :p

then we can go to KFC.

I wouldn't mind Spur food, but not sure if i'd want it at the Spur.

The pinto type pattern kinda puts me off.

The operative word here being "Parow"

My advice to the OP is to take the money, elopeto a tropical island, get married by a local pastor on the beach and send everyone a nice post card. It will be much cheaper and a lot less stressful.

Mcdonnalds WTF!!

Pegasus you say it as if it oke.
That is equal to having a bring en Braai for your reception.
Fail.

Split it into two. First get everyone & their dog and give them tea coffee and cake. The invite a small circle of friends & family and do a proper X course meal.

If the budget is really tight find someone other than a pro photographer to do the photos.

Make sure you think about possible rain situation.

Further out of the city will naturally be cheaper, but check facilities well beforehand.

Plan drinks well - those can be painfully expensive.

Hi. If you need wedding invitations I can help you. I have a cutting machine and we can make a deal on making you professional invitations, etc. I also do ribbon printing for that personal touch. Let me know if you are interested.
