Weed growers thread

Hi guys.

Can anyone suggest reputable seed banks in SA and also, please share with me which strains are best for cpt climate.

I will be growing outdoor next season and want to prepare ahead.

I'll be growing under led until August/September and then outdoor.

I'm curious to know which strains perform best for a beginner for outdoor growing. Also preferably autoflowering strains as time is crucial for me due to where I stay. I don't mind photos but I'd like to give autos a try first.

Any help will be appreciated.

Autos are not very forgiving. If you stress the plant just a little too much it throws a tantrum and due to the short veg time it wont grow nice and big.

Theres no need to grow something especially for Cape Town climate but remember if you start a grow outdoor now it will immediately go into flower unless you supplement the light hours. If you do decide to go this route just remember theres a high chance of your bud rotting due to rain.

Its possible to plant a seed now, supplement the light for about 4 weeks and let it flower then.

The post above yours give guidance to where you can get seeds, Biltong and Buds also sell clones under their Nursery section if you want to give that a go, it will give you a nice headstart.

What are you going to grow in?

I recently bought some autoflower seeds, since I'm still a beginner and I would love to grow my own.

My first plant is in it's flowering stage. I noticed today a large calyx towards the lower part of the plant. Upon removal and opening there was a seed. Checked a few more and found some underdeveloped seed as well in them.

What does this mean? Should I harvest and smoke what is? Or do I let it continue to grow? How also do I prevent this with my other grows that are starting to come up? Will appreciate your guys expertise in this. Thanks.

Those are not seeds.

My grow is all starting to flower now. A mix of express and unknown.

Had one flower some buds earlier, which I harvested, but it's flowering again. Another where the buds rotted. Then I got powdery fungus (wpm). Yanked a plant out to stop it spreading, but alas no luck.

I didn't realise they would get so big, over 2m tall. So being so close together, without proper ventilation and with all the rain/humidity the fungus grew. I tried the milky water spray solution but that didn't work. So got a proper food safe fungaside.

Now just waiting for the right time to harvest.

Ok so my plant has not been pollinated or hermied? (can this even happen to an autoflower) even though I found a larger seed towards the bottom of the plant encased in one of the calyx's?
The overy of the plant is in the calyx. It looks like immature seeds but its just the overy.

Hi, I got a little present over the weekend. But I don't know anything about growing plants. Are these spider mites? Can I just wipe it with some dishwashing liquid water solution?

Anyone know where in ZA I can buy these? I've tried about 7 tobacco shops in my area and none of them stock this. 2 of them did, but they no longer do. 1 is going to order for me, but there is no ETA as yet.

First time trying to grow my own. Is this a sign of flowering?
