Weekend Holiday Suggestions

Ok ok I know there are likely threads buried somewhere about this, but I don't care

So guys how about some suggestions for Weekend type getaways (1-3 nights etc), criteria:

1.) Doesn't break the bank
2.) Doesn't require several hours travelling (Jhb area as a starting point)
3.) Actually has INTERESTING things to do in the area
4.) Self catering type accommodation a must really

Klein Kariba in warmbaths

Excellent activities relaxed atmosphere with lots to do,bass fishing,horse riding etc Its set in a nice bush environment with deer roaming free and has three heated pools including one indoor one.The nice thing is warm baths is a five minute drive if you need stuff so thats convenient and there are lots of game reserves etc around that area that you could tour from the resort.

Doesn't get full like First Resorts (Aventura) Warmbaths resort.It also fits your profile of not hours and hours driving, its 1,5 hours from JHB if you drive at 120 kmph which IMO is perfect for weekends away.And yes the rates are very very reasonable.

Book a mountain chalet they are quite nice,or even one on the lake.


If you want even closer then there are plenty options in magaliesburg also...dont forget the vaal

Thanks,I didn't know that since I was last there two months ago,but that is just temporary so its still an option for the future I'm sure in a month or two it'll be right.The weather up there is nice even in winter so you can still enjoy the heated pools in winter also which is convenient for people from JHB.
