Weight Loss Thread 2014

^ I do the same thing. I think it's important for people to realise that Tim is rehashing information that has been extensively written about over the last 10+ years.

I generally follow the philosophy of WWPAD? (what would Peter Attiah do)
:D

So I've been eating cheap eggs (budget constraints) and I just recently bought free-range. The difference is immense, both price-wise and egg-quality wise.

Does anyone know of anywhere around Cape Town I can get free-range eggs for less than R2.50 an egg?

Have been wondering about this as well. In what way are they different?

Woolies had 18 large free range eggs on special for R38 last week. Normal price about R50 though.

ah, the great egg question

eggs are pretty much lucky draw as even free range doesn't mean they're better if the hens are cruising round but still being fed a diet of grain

as has been pointed out before in the thread anything grain fed is going to upset the omega 3/6 balance

The grain-fed are pale yellow and don't taste like much, the free-range are bright orange and taste delicious.

in general yes, but I've recently had a couple of batches of free range that look exactly the same as grain-fed

Colour means nothing. Those bright orange ones are no doubt fed something like asthaxantin or something else to colour them.

Battery hens AND free range hens are fed GM maize...

Woolworth's organic eggs are grain fed GM free wheat, and have pale yolks.

PS: Side note: I eat a lot of eggs raw because I am lazy, and these days the organic woolworth's eggs are the only ones that don't make me want to retch. The organic ones taste of a slight vanilla taste. The free range, as well as "free range" from various other suppliers around me are utterly disgusting.

So ten days ago I decided to switch back to low carb (after two months of eating crap again), and I must say, the 10 day induction of ultra low carb (<30grams) was super easy, and I feel absolutely fantastic again.

My digestion is great again, my mental clarity is back, and I'm not lethargic like I am eating crap carbs. Somebody please slap me if I go back to my slovenly ways!

I'll slap you for having done it in the first place, just let me know next time you're in Jo'burg :p

ROFL! It was BECAUSE I went to JHB that I went back to eating crap in the first place! I just never resumed my healthy ways after I got home!

It has been a long day, and I could not be arsed to cook. I've ordered a pizza, and by god am I going to enjoy it!

I've been good enough to enjoy a wild night of doughy passion methinks.

Go for it, so long as all you're doing is eating the pizza

A thin base pizza can actually keep you under the limit, if you're gonna cheat with anything pizza is the way to go...
