Weight Loss Thread 2014

Hahaha. Too funny this.

Gonna be saving ye tons of cash.

Today is going to be a very bad day for me.

It is my little girl's 1st birthday party with family and we are going to be about 20 people. It will be braai salads, garlic bread, cup cakes and the pudding I made yesterday.

Yay for mister! That's a pretty sight.

Compared to building lean muscle...yes...yes it is.

I lol at people saying they don't want to do heavy weight training because they don't want big muscles.

Bwhahahaha.

It is not that easy.

That depends on the individual though. I can pack on lean muscle really easily, but Im an old hand in the gym.

I think I should print that picture and keep it... It is probably the first and last time I'll ever see a scale read 10% bf....

As a woman I doubt you want to get to 10% bf...unless you are physique athlete and or want that ripped look. Which is perfectly fine imho :)

Just that most people don't know what 10% looks like much less that 10% on a guy and woman looks VERY different.

Case in point the following comparative chart;

Ok I don't feel too bad about my 26% anymore :D
Would still like to drop it a little though :)

Did a bootcamp this morning - really got the heart going

IMPI thius weekend coming

Lies. Everyone knows there are no women on the internet...

Okay. That joke is a bit old.

I say well damn done for doing what will give results! I feel sorry for the 'cardio bunnies' doing the same treadmill run day in and day out for months with no result.

If they only knew...

Orihalcon, please share.
I decided to be a Cardio bunny for my first month in gym, to get my energy and fitness up. Running 10 to 20 min has now become easier. My resting heart rate is down from 92 to 74. Previously I battled to run 50m.

That is fantastic!

First let me clarify my point - if the only thing you do, and ever do, in a gym is treadmill steady state cardio your body will not undergo significant change. This has been proven. It's still good for you, you still exercise and get the blood flowing. But without curtailing your eating habits that alone won't give you significant weight loss - depending on where you are and what level etc.

For you that started out and used it to set up a base - perfect! I'd never advocate a first time trainee to walk into the weight room and start throwing weight around.

I would very much suggest that you KEEP on doing your cardio on the treadmill - it's great for weight loss and your body - but I will HIGHLY suggest that you think about incorporating weight and resistance training into your fitness program.

I think most women believe they will end up looking like female bodybuilders if they start doing weight training. This can not be farther from the truth.

Resistance training for a woman is incredibly rewarding and will result in increased FAT loss, firmer muscle tone and an all round healthier you. But hey...I'm biased. I'm a weight monkey :D

This pic is a bit extreme, but it illustrates my point quite well;
