Hi all

I have a 4meg adsl line, ISP - Telkom

Last week, I noticed that some sites weren't loading at all i.e. youtube, speedtest.net, overclock.net but most others worked. I also noticed that if they did load, it was partial and then the webpage would just 'hang'

I called Telkom and they told me to use the 'proxy server for your LAN' option. They proceeded to give me the correct port and address numbers

This did work, but then I noticed that randomly some sites would show the same symptoms as above (using proxy via LAN option). I would then disable 'proxy via LAN' and the sites would then work

So at this moment I have a 3/4 working internet?

What could the problem be and how do I address it with Telkom?

Much appreciated!

:)

My problem is identical - also looking for a solution!

get your ISP or Telkom to check your port for error's, and if they detect any get your port reset. I had this problem earlier this year and resetting the port sorted it out

Intermittent errors like this are the worst to resolve.
I would have the ISP and Telkom check on the errors. I would place two fault calls with Telkom the first as a hardware issue and the second with them as an ISP. I have found that that works best.

If they see the errors then they should reset the port for you.

Regards

Tim
