Weird black and white line on MM2

I recently became a DSTV subscriber and noticed two strange things and was hoping you guys know what's going on:

1. This is by far the most irritating thing. MM2 permanently displays a flickering black and white line between the picture and the top black bar in the upper left corner. I've noticed it on another channel as well but can't recall which one.

2. The sound cuts out every now and again on various channels for a few seconds. It's very similar to the sound being cut during swearing - only thing is, it's not during bad language.

Is this normal behaviour? Is my dish slightly misaligned or could it be a result of a damaged line between the dish and the decoder? Any advice is appreciated.

The white line, according to the guys on the DSTv forum, contains additional data in the broadcast stream (presumably related to Dolby sound?). They are aware of it, but currently not able to mask it out. IF you've got a widescreen TV and it's set up correctly for the feed (i.e. fullscreen) you won't see the line...

If you're still on a normal tv, it seems you're without a solution at the moment...

As for the sound cutting out - might well relate to signal quality. Press 'Help' on your DSTv remote which will give you an indication of the received signal. Don't worry about the signal strength - anything above 65%-70% should be fine. Watch for fluctuation of the 'Signal Quality'. If that checks out, check under 'Language Options' and ensure you don't have surround sound specified if you've only got a stereo setup...

Seems the aspect ratio on your decoder is incorrect......its probably set to letterbox. I had the same problem ...all sorted now.

Thanks for the info, I don't own a widescreen tv. I'll check the sound settings as well.

I'll check this as well, thanks!
