Hi ;)

I'm tera, nice to meet you :p

Anyways, I'm printing a few PDF documents with Adobe PDF on a Laser printer with Duplex mode.

Problem is, when I use the "collate" option in the printing preferences of Adobe, pages let's say numbered 1-11 prints like this:

Page 1-10 normal duplex, both sides, but the second copy (copy2) prints page 11 and page 1 of the next copy on the resulting page.

I hope you understand. Usually what happened, before this unknown occurrence, it would print a blank page behind page 11 and then continue page 1 on a new page.

If I don't use the "collate" option then the pages get printed in the following order: 11111 22222 33333 44444 etc. which makes it a real pain to sort out and bind together.

I'm dumbstruck today and would appreciate any help. If you need more info, please tell me.

;)

Wish I could - useless at printing... but at least I'm helping to keep the post near the top of New Posts :p

That's a fact, appreciation fairy is going to visit you soon :p

tera!!! Howzit... your name is familiar :p

to be honest Windows duplex printing is a BIG FAT pain because every single program wants to handle it differently and sometimes the program and the printer driver also handle it differently.

All I can suggest is to get hold of a copy of FinePrint ...

http://www.fineprint.com/

it's not free... but it is the only program that I know of that sets up your computer properly to print duplex.

Hi Gary my friend ;)

Problem is bro, I'm not using Windows or any driver for Duplex printing, the printer has a built in duplexer.

Like I said, or may have not, this problem wasn't there until today, I have printed a few 1000 pages before with no issues, I am .

Are you using a PCL driver or a PS driver. The ps driver is only supposed to download the doc once and print x times. Sometimes printing from a newer version of Adobe reader helps. Other things only tick collate in the printer properties not Adobe print dialog. Once you find out what combination works write it down as the solutions never make sense.

Hi Ianf ;) Thank you for the response, you seem quite knowledgeable, I appreciate it.

The printer in question is a Samsung 2851ND, I've got it all on default mode (I think it's using PCL at default settings), as far as I know I don't have a collate option in the printer driver or printer gateway.

Could I just ask you again, should I rather try the PS mode?

Printer settings are default, except I'm printing duplex in "long edge" mode.

uhhh bro, you are using a driver, else you cant print. The "duplexer" is just a physical device that turns the paper around.

Of course I'm printing through a driver, but I'm not printing through a driver in duplex mode like a standard printer. You should join the grammar nazi'z, under a new title, hardware/software nazi :p

Some printers come with a PS driver and PCL driver. PS is the 'better" driver but takes longer to download for single copy prints. When you select a printer it should say samsung ps and another one samsung pcl. You might have to install the PS driver separately. The easy way is to insert a blank page in your file so there are 12 pages. Some people do this, but if you are being charged for maintenance you don't want that counted. For a pdf you can insert a blank page if you have Acrobat.
This is not logical so you must test each method.
