I have a bizarre situation. Yesterday outlook could not retrieve my email from google using pop3, the password box kept popping up and the authentication failing. Yet I could log into the browser front end to display my mail no problem. It persisted for maybe an hour or two and then fixed itself.

Today some of my clients are experiencing the same issue, but on different servers.
Email works fine, but outlook keeps asking for a password. Login via the web interface, no problem. The problem is also intermittent, sometimes it does connect and retrieve the mail.

I have seen this previously when the internet connection struggles, but it seems the internet is fine. This has happened with clients on mweb and afrihost.

I have no clue what might be causing this since the web server is fine and the internet seems fine. Anyone experience this or can offer some insight?

No insight to offer but one of my clients (on TI) also experienced it and reported it at about 15:00 after battling for a while. By the time I remoted in the problem was cleared.

Problem sorted itself out. Probably related to that google outage.
Thanks for the link.

Hi There,
I would put it down only to the google outage.

Their figures for affected numbers are interesting though 0.007% is a small percentage indeed but to put out a briefing as they did shows a good customer response.

Regards

Tim
