Hi all...

I'm upgrading an old HP NC6110 for my bro-in-law and it has the weirdest usb problem... It doesn't pick up ANY usb devices. I've tried BT, 2x flashdrives, even those R9.99 Notebook LED lights... Nada, niks! All devices were tested in my HP desktop machine & all work...

And then I plugged in a JNC fake iPod player I got for free with a miniUSB cable. It picks it up! And works! Can copy to/from...

So what's the verdict? I've re-installed XP from scratch (twice) and still the same... Gone up to SP3 as well... Updated BIOS to latest rev. USB controllers and hubs are all showing in Devman with no conflicts. Even ran an Ubuntu LiveCD - the JNC works, nothing else does...

Google didn't help much either...

Is my best bet one of those PCMCIA to USB2.0 cards? Anybody has one lying around?

Cheers

Yeah, it's got a battery, but it does charge from the HP's USB port... Whether the HP is plugged in or not...

And I just plugged in my semi-busted iPhone - nothing...

Take out the battery and all power sources for 30 mins...
Had a similar prob with mine and that fixed it :)

OK, will try that tonite! Had it off and battery pulled for a minute, but there must've been some charge left in them motherboard components!

Relented and bought a PCMCIA to USB convertor - it works fine... USB ports are still kaput, except for JNC iProd!
