Hey there

I was wondering if anyone could help me. My internet line has been dropping on and off constantly for the last month, It seems to be intensified during times when there's been a lot of rain. I called telkom and they will get to me soon apparently  And recently I have noticed that whenever someone calls the home phone the asdl line drops instantly , I have alos just discovered that If I press the call button on my phone then press it again my adsl starts working again...anyone have any clues as to how to fix this? My line has dropped twice while I've been writing this:mad:

check the setup of your modem, telephone line, splitter etc... as per instructions in the booklet of your router.

We've also been having problems with the ADSL line dropping ALL THE TIME. We have 0% ADSL in the evenings. It's not the router, not the phone and not the splitter.

We've also had Voice go for short periods of time.

And as yet also no Telkom technician. *sigh*

I'm seeing some reports that there are problems in some areas due to the rain. Also seen this report of someone having a very similar problem and suggesting there is limited bandwdith due to cable theft:

Does anyone know more?

I been having a similar problem!

Around a month ago my connection just died, telephone didn't even have a tone.

Telkom techs came around and got the connection up and running!

So I thought!

The connection used to be 4Mbit connection it now runs around 300kbps (I am 200 meters away from the exchange) on a good day! I had Telkom techs come around again, they did a couple of tests and found out the problem was with Telkom.

This was around 2 weeks ago now, still no word on what is happening!

I feel your pain cartman. I had a tech at my house yesterday. he came with his whole arsenal of tools and *****. When I told him that the DSLAM ports had been changed, loops have been changed and new pairs had already been run from the pole to the house, I knocked the wind out of his sails. He then left (with his tail between his legs) and said they have to escalate to some dept to do a conformance test...the drama continues.
