Weird Line issues

Had a 4mb line with an ISP- it registered on Speedtest as 2mb - downgraded line and package to 2mb and speedtest shows 1mb .... what...... :erm:

ISP suspects telkom exchange is over utilitsed - I tend to agree as problem only appeared when I moved

Go into your router and check what speed the line syncs at.

Who is the ISP and what package are you signed up for.

Hi There,
So you have ruled out the hardware which is good.
Now you need to contact the ISP and ask them for an explanation. Saying the exchange is congested is not really an explanation.
You can find your exchange here and then posting the exchange and asking if anyone else is on the same exchange will usually get a result.

If you use a download manager and try to download http://openoffice.mirror.ac.za/stable/3.3.0/OOo_3.3.0_Win_x86_install_en-US.exe what speed do you get?
