First off - I have read about the NAS drive SMB problems - i seem to be suffering from that on one of my NAS drives.

the second one is fine and does not give any hassles. I think it has something to do with the permissions set on the SMB server software on the drive itself.

The one that connects fine allows me to specify users with passwords including groups etc on the NAS drive.

The older one which I am having hassles with only has a username and password and does not allow users to be created on the drive software itself. I have reverted to connecting to it via FTP (you can specify specific user accesses for FTP on this drive) and it works fine now.
I have found a number of possible solutions and will try them still.

The second hassle was this

WTF - couldn't connect and had to wait out the bloody minute.

All OK now though.

For some or other weird reason - I can now no longer do any editing on any of my 2 NAS drives - this is a pain.

Also That stupid message re my wireless network being compromised is starting to annoy me - it comes up every time I put the Macbook to sleep or power it on.....

I have Tiger now loaded on my USB drive and booting to that- it boots slow but works fine once up and running and at least everything works. I have yet to find a firewire enclosure for a 2.5 inch SATA drive. Seem to be very scarce.

Be that as it may - time machine is working like a dream when I run Leopard - the eye candy is also forcing me not to revert to Tiger on the Macbooks HD.

Can't wait for that SMB NAS fix - everybody seems to have issues with it according to the apple forums.

When in Leopard I am now exclusively using SAFARI - just is so much nicer.

EDIT: @Bwana - pse fix the sp error in the heading - ta.

Reverting to TIGER

Well, this is enough now - tonight my Macbook refuses to connect to the wireless network. I am reverting to TIGER until a fix for these damn network connection issues is released. The Apple forum under Leopard Networking is teaming with connectivity issues so its not just mwa.. :(

*/ ...wonders why nobody is climbing in here to offer advice/workarounds?
*/... wonders when Bwana is getting his copy of Leopard so that he can come up with solutions?
*/... maybe should do clean install this weekend..!

Yep, have been buried in all the hints sites but nothing at this stage - seems as if it has to be resolved with an upgrade. Will wait it out, Have got Tiger on the USB drive if I need to interact with the Nas drives.

Probs with wireless not reconnecting sorted with 10.5.1 upgrade. Had to power down my 2nd Linksys (connected via WDS to the 1st one) as I was still getting those 'wireless network has been compromised' messages'. These have now stopped.

Connecting fine to my SBLAN2 NAS drive with full RW access. (Also no probs connecting to shared folders on Win XP PC).

Still unable to browse my SBLAN NAS drive though. Funny problem is that I powered up Vista after about 2 months this weekend and it is also having hassles with the SBLAN NAS (stops responding) - seems as if that NAS has had its days - need to get a new enclosure.
