Hi all,

I hope this is in the proper section.

Setup:

Win 7 Professional 64-bit
8GB RAM ( 1x 4GB Patriot + 1x 4GB Transcend )
MSI H81M-P33 mobo
MSI GTX 650 ti Boost
Corsair VX 550W
Socket 1150 Intel G3220
WD Blue something something 500GB 16MB cache hdd
Standard DVD Writer

Whenever I shut down the PC completely and switch it back on again, all I get is a black screen. Doesn't even load Windows. Not even BIOS.

Turn PC off and switch back on again, PERFECT. Loads BIOS & Windows perfectly ( Windows doesn't give the error that I didn't shutdown properly ).

If I'm using the PC and do a reboot, perfect.

It's just when the PC has like been off for a few hours while I sleep & I switch it on. Only upon "cold boot" if I can put it that way does this happen.

Mobo is flashed to latest BIOS.

I highly doubt it's the PSU coz I've used this PC for gaming, internet etc & not a days problem with PSU ( Freezing, rebooting etc )

All I can think of is that it's maybe the RAM? Mixed brands. But games run PERFECTLY. CS:GO , Borderlands 2 , Lord of the rings online etc

Can someone maybe help?

From what I've seen on forums it's either an overclocking issue or the PSU.

If you've overclocked anything, revert to the original state. Other than that, replacing the PSU seems like the only other option.

Personally I would also try taking out the GPU and see if that works.

I don't think the problem is ram but you can always remove one and test a single stick, but I got a similar problem I'll turn the pc on and it'll switch off then the second time it boots up fine, but it's not all the time.

Looking at your specs the only similarity is that I also have a corsair power supply.
I have checked dozens of other options so maybe try another psu. I really should too but I am too lazy to get round to it.

Thx guys.

I did some Googling and apparently these boards have issues with the Haswell CPU's and their "refresh reboot" or whatever.

I did update the BIOS successfully to the latest version ( v1.7 ) but still the same.

Thank you to all who replied. I just called the supplier. Hardware is like 3 months old so this is officially now their problem.

Thank you to all once again.

P.S. PC hardware is stock standard. Never been overclocked.

Was about so suggest the GPU, as I had a issue with one of my GFX card at a stage, removed the card from the pc and all was fine, bought a new card(bigger and better :)) Built a another c with the old card...Boom all works fine, been running more than a year now!

BUUT...seeing as you know what the problem is...just keep this is mind the next time!

Try reseating your RAM.

Also try testing your RAM with memtest by putting it on a CD or flash drive. http://www.memtest.org/

Typically this is usually due to a problem with the PSU or motherboard.

To confirm, you could try unplugging all drives as these pull power when the PC starts. If it starts successfully after that, the problem is with the PSU. If the problem persists, it's most likely a faulty capacitor on the motherboard.
