Recently got 192 dsl and Cybersmart account.

Connection "seems" ok and everything, but I can't seem to access any webpages! Weird thing is I can ONLY access Telkom's website (using my login and password from Cybersmart)

Does anyone have some sort of clue why this is the case??

btw... according to Cybersmart "ADSL usage" there was a 'port error' everytime I tried to connect.

your router seems to be malconfigured. Do a search or two on "router settings" on the forum. Describe your setup... for additional help...

I have a Dlink DSL-300T ethernet modem.

Settings are as follows:
VPI : 8
VCI :35
encapsulation : ppoeLLC
MTU 1400bytes
MRU 1492bytes
DHCP Server active

I've done the verification thingie (yesterday) with the following reply in green text:

Your ADSL Service request has already been processed.

Does that mean it has been verified or not or what?

thanks Carlhead.

Oh well, maybe something with the ISP then..:(

..or my pc for that matter, but I can't figure the problem out.

Make sure you have the right dns settings entered, preferably test without any dns settings ie. automatic.

My DNS settings are all set to automatic.

I just don't understand why can I only access Telkom's website and nothing else??

1. I think the telkom test account does this - restricts you to accessing only their web site - so double check that you using your ISP account credentials and not the one put by the telkom technician for testing the line
2. I don't think the modem you got supports pppoe (although there is a pppoe setting for testing purposes), so it must be set in "bridge" mode and you must initiate the pppoe session from the PC, not from the modem
