So I noticed a problem start with my PC a few days ago. When I'm booting my PC up from cold, it gets to Window's load screen and shuts down again. Then I turn it back on and it boots up fine. In Windows the Radeon driver reports a problem with the graphics card and that it's reset to factory defaults (or something similar, I'll report back on the exact error tomorrow evening.). The card isn't overclocked or anything.

I'm not sure if this started when I moved my PC to my lounge and back, or when I cleaned it out to get rid of the dust bunnies.

Any ideas?

Reseat the GPU.

Had a Pentium 3 pc many years ago
Had to pre heat it with a hairdryer before it boots up , later found there was electrolytic capacitors starting to bulge .
Replace them all was fine.

How did you clean the dust? A blower, under some dry conditions, can cause static which zings a board.

I used good old fashioned lung power, but I might have damaged the board slightly when reseating the RAM. It was being a bitch and I had to use a fair amount of force to get it back in, or maybe I did just zap it by accident when I was reseating stuff after I cleaned the various parts... (I wasn't exactly sorting it out in a static free environment).

Oh well, not going to stress too much. As it stands having to boot twice isn't a huge issue, and I was looking at getting a new CPU/Mobo/Ram for my birthday anyway. I'll have some time next weekend to take the entire thing apart and test things individually. Thanks for all the suggestions folks.

A hairdryer and a can of freeze -- reminds me of the good ole days in the repair lab.
