Ok here goes. :)

I HATE spam - more than anything (almost).

What I want to do is isolate original address (as far as possible) using "Abuse!" and then using the returned mail address to subscribe to some disgusting XXX mailing lists... :o

Does anyone know of a mailing list?

So you hate spam, but you want to spam?

Probably be some poor sucker who's machine is being used as a bot without him knowing .... "Uh, honey, I have a million messages for penis enlargement all of a sudden" :D

I think he is referring to companies sending out spam. I have received a few emails recently from SA companies. I hardly get any spam, but somehow these seem to get through the filters... I think they are using legitimate mass-mailing services to send out their spam. I do however report every single one of them. One by one I'll shut them down.

Unfortunately spam doesnt come from the address in the email. eg one email address I have apparently comes from me, to me, with usual spam inside and Microsoft footers, unsubscribe etc. One has trace the ip address to have any hope of knowing its origin which is what Spamcop does.

Faking the address in emails is *very* easy. The chances of an XXX email using the spammers actual email is zilch.

It is only in 419 scams where they want you to reply to their email address that your method would give you results and some satisfaction

Generally the email addresses that you receive in your mailbox as spam, well its fake.Sohin I don't think it will end up anywhere in fact you will receive yet another mail, the returned mail :)

I too am a normal person, totally antispam. But all I do is run my eye down the webmail list of emails and say to each, do I know the from email address, do I know the subject, and a no to either of these gets a tick next to the msg and once I get to the end of the list I press the delete button and all my problems go away.

On a 100 junk emails, that takes all over 2 mins, which I normally would have been spending doing... Ok to make up the lost time I will leave for the office two minutes earlier. I can take it, I is a big boy

I know how they fake mail addresses (proxies etc.)

Running a detailed whois session at a tier 2 ISP can bring results.

For example the Ben Seal Cole spam about ...IMF... requiring your details, originated from Lagos, Nigeria. The company where the mail is originating from is *not revealing company name...* The company is located on Plot 1261, Bishop Kale Close, off Saka Tinubu street, Lagos, Nigeria.

It is possible to notify the domain hosting the mail server of the culprit. Since I'm getting no help from Mweb, I finally reached my tether. The gloves are off.

Fc*k them.
