I have an Amplifi Instant with Afrihost fibre and I have been getting big packet loss spikes and latency jumps every few minutes.
However, these issues completely dissapear when having the D-Link router provided by Afrihost behind the Amplifi router (ONT -> D-Link -> Amplifi), and the Amplifi still acting as the DHCP server and connecting all the devices to the internet.

It's been killing me to figure out why this is. The router clearly routes fine but on it's own, there are big packet issues.
I have also bow tried cloning the MAC address of the D-Link on the Instant and no difference. Ethernet cables are all good too.

It's been months, nobody on Afrihost support is helping and I'd just love to know the cause.

If you use the ONT> Amplifi > (devices) > PC <<do you have any device here in between?
If this question is a no, have you tried resetting the Amplifi Instant?

Did the Amplifi device work correctly before? Or has this always been an issue?

I have the Instant connected to a gigabit switch that feeds to other devices around the house.
I've done tests on another PC with a direct Cat6 cable to the Instant (only connection) and no difference, still packet loss.

I have not yet reset the Instant but it has gone through lots of restarts, and it's been this way around a month or 2 after I had gotten it, so it hasn't always been this way. At this point I'm unsure as to when exactly this started but it's been this way for months now.

The weird thing is that it went from very common bursts of loss to more uncommon (every minute to every 5 minutes or so) after Afrihost had reset something on their end, causing me to blame Afrihost, but I'm still very unsure about it all, and they have no idea what it is either.

Is the Switch also an Ubiquiti product? I have had some switches not play nice with Ubiquiti and other brands in the past. Otherwise I would suggest a replacement for the instant. (Sounds like its the issue)

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.
