Weird SD card failure

I've had a similar issue a while back, I remember trying to do a slow format on the computer and that didn't even work for me. In my case I destroyed it.

I wonder if that isn't the manufacturer failsafe when the SD card reaches end of life?

It allows you to copy off the existing data but no more blocks can be written to it. Just a thought that I had now

Some people with a similar issue are recommending trying the SD Memory Card Formatter to see if that would help.

But it sounds like it could be a hardware or firmware problem and that the card has failed into a read-only failsafe mode as a result of it.

^ That's not going to help. Its an adaptor that just pulls the write protect pin to ground.

I've seen similar issues like this before. Caused by some internal failure on the SD Card.
