I've been experiencing extreme traffic on my 3g even if I have it on idle. Idle for 30mins and my usage on 3g is 100meg. This is especially after restarts of my pc. I looked at the resource manager ( win7) and found the most traffic is comming from this ip : 41.0.162.74

But still under a network service on windows so I can't say what is munching up the bandwidth. I downloaded the trail version for netlimiter but could not see exactly what program was abusing my connection. In the end I decided it had to be something on startup since the moment I kill the connection it doesn't restart itself. At last found it to be the OVI software from nokia. Traced the ip and saw it was from Vodacom bussiness ? Weird won't you say ?.

Anyhow I have been noticing something "stealing" my bandwidth for a while but could not pinpoint it up to now. Unintalled nokia OVI and all systems go.

For a while I was thinking Vodacom was "causing" downloads since it's one of their ip's

I would have believed updates if it was not more than 200meg but I have 500meg gone just from that.

Anyone else seen something weird like this ?

What was your IP at the time?

The Windows firewall can prevent incoming connections but it does nothing to stop programs making outbound connections. Get yourself a decent firewall that can keep the programs on your PC in check. Zone Alarm and Comodo are decent free ones.
