Need some advice please. Using USB 2.0, no matter what format Flash drive, or make, when I copy a file it will fly till about 5 seconds remaining, then just freeze for +/- 3-4 mins before completing. Tried all my USB ports, same result. Using Win7 Pro. Any ideas?

Never come across that issue before.

Does it happen with a different USB drive?
Does the USB drive also crawl on another PC?

It could be that your Windows install is tired and needs a re-install sadly :(

This behaviour is normal for Windows 7 if you have the device setup for 'Quick removal'(expand Disk drives in Device manager, right click the usb drive, select properties, then policies tab). If you change settings to 'Better performance', the progress bar should no longer freeze at 5 seconds remaining, but it may take a while if you try to safely remove the drive, as it will still be copying the data in the background. The reason it freezes is that Windows miscalculates the time needed as it buffers the data being copied to ram, which is a LOT faster than usb2 speeds...

Thanks oldhat, but no policies tab under my USB device properties.
Are you using Windows as Administrator? May need to do so to access those settings. Also, some drives may need a firmware update or may simply not support a change in settings...

If "teracopy" doesnt work , then try "fastcopy". When I used Teracopy I seemed to get damaged files after the copy or move. So now I use fastcopy and the GUI is not as fancy but it works.
