my other pc that i use for lan and gaming keeps on freazing when windows starts up. y is that? and how do I fix it:confused:

cos your running windows. no no I don't know. Possibly cos your PC hasn't got the specs and the boot up with start up programmes and all is causing it to freeze? What windows are you running? what specs do you have?

windows media center 2002
1gb ram ddr2 800
geforce 8600gt
5000+ amd athlon x2 2.6 ghz
abit ax78 mb

Can't exactly say that your under spec'd. Mate can't really say. Suppose it could be anything from a faulty memory something...maybe a bug in the windows media center (though have never heard of it being faulty)...or a virus maybe. Can't really help ya..sorry dude.

nea its cool man but thanx anyway! what would be your guess, hardware or software?

software. Most windows installs require a reinstall about once a year, maybe more if you like tweaking things

When you want help with a problem you really should try and give as much information as you can. Have you tried starting in safe mode? Does it always freeze at exactly the same moment while booting? Did you change anything before this started happening hardware or software wise (including drives/bios changes)?

A long shot but try Microsoft's BootVis if you can find it. A couple of years ago helped me figure out a long delay during bootup caused my my ide controller. A bios tweak later and all was good. Bootvis showed that windows was getting stuck while loading an ATA driver.
