.......... (aka SA). No this is not a philosophical discussion ........ it relates more to the state of the nation and how it is slowly starting to show more of a resemblance to Dante's Inferno than the Rainbow Nation we are being pitched by the precidency's / ANC soothsayers.

If anyone had watched E-TV news tonight you might have noticed the following: the first four stories were all related to people having been murdered. I could see that the news reader was shocked, as well as there being some progressively longer pauses from him between each story.

The only neutral news was that the reserve bank have left interest rates unchanged. If petrol was included in the basic basket of goods then the inflation numbers would look very different. In statistics or accounting this is referred to as "Punnishing the numbers until they confess" ; applying mathematics until you get the results you require.

Bad news is that the overpriced food you have been buying you're pooch might be killing it.

So where is the good news ?

Also don't read the newspapers much these days - always the same doom and gloom stories.

Despite all the **** in South Africa , I'm still hopeful and optimistic

Yesterday to me seemed one of the worst since I've been in SA. Mall shootings and several killings including a 2 year old is just not on in a civilised, modern society. It's simply not acceptable to any normal person, yet South Africans live with it day in and day out - and the politicians seemingly don't care a bit.

The news is pretty much the only TV I watch.

Criminals are killing this country, while government is either sitting on the sideline watching or sometimes even helping the criminals. The people are either planning (or dreaming) to get out, or in total denial.

Yargh, it's not so bad, the police stats say that crime is down (takes another blue pill).
