Logged a fault yesterday at 16:00 via the web site for a noisy line. Voice line had lots of noise on it and my router reported 12dB SNR.

Got a call from Raj at 9am just to see if I tested without the filter and said he would be there a bit later on. Arrived after 11:00 some time, found the fault (one of the RJ-11 outlet boxes) and was on his way 15min later, noise gone and SNR back to a solid 28dB. Fast service & super friendly chap.

No voice line and no internet service yesterday. Logged a fault about 15:00 via their automated fault reporting system and received a call from someone at 10:30 am that service has been restored. Well done Telkom!

When I Lived in Verulam, i always had efficient service from Telkom. Telkom staff in the North Coast seem to be on the ball.

Always had great service from telkom in my area - I've never waited longer than a few hours.

What system is that?

Telkom also very good with response in the Cape Town City Bowl area.

Never had an issue with them.

I've always had good service from the local guys. On two occasions I had to wait a few days where they had to replace the overhead cable run for all the houses down the road due to trees chafig the cable, the other a broken underground section some contractor fubarred.

This just pisses me off even more as I had to wait 2 months to have my service restored from what was essentially a Telkom admin fault. 2 months of phoning, pleading etc. got me nothing but the 'your service has been restored' sms lie, not even contacting TelkomZA & his team on here helped. Thing is I knew exactly what happened and how to fix it, and told Telkom so, but even my official request to retentions dept. was flat out ignored.

Eventually lost it and emailed an executive at Telkom and voila! .. day later my service was restored.
Guess what I'm going to do next time my service goes down..?

Telkom may have it's moments, but as we all pay the same shouldn't we expect the same level of service?

wow,grats!!

telkom made my snr worce after "fixing" it
and just telling me a BS story everytime

but im glad your prob is shorted and that there is still good techs around!

Telkom has its moments. I logged a fault online with Telkom a few months ago due to my line being dead (so I thought). A few hours after logging the fault I did a much thorough inspection of the cable going from my router to the telephone jack and found a tiny bite mark in the cable that clearly came from a mouse or a rat. The bite mark was so tiny I missed it the first time I inspected the cable. Turned out the bite had severed just one side of the copper strand, resulting in a dead line. As soon as I discovered it I cancelled my fault on Telkom's system. Every day for the next 4 days I got a phone call from Telkom asking me when they could send through a technician. Each time I told them I had actually cancelled the fault report, and there was no need. I was impressed that they kept following up, but annoyed that they kept on phoning despite me cancelling the fault. You can never win.
