I've finally decided that VCs 3G offering is not viable for my needs (which are simple really - just want to connect and stay connected at a speed slightly higher than dial-up!).

I wandered over to Telkom's DSL website and started looking at ADSL. The next step was to check whether my local exchange is ADSL enabled. Well, guess what? Absolutely no way can I get that page to display. I even went over to MWeb and tried to check from there - same thing happened. Do you think VC is blocking webpages too (LOL)?

I suppose it's not just China that's controlling what it's citizens can see on the Web, is it? (See Andrew Donaldson's column in today's Sunday Times for more on that one)

Or perhaps it is just Telkodemonopolies' crap webpage that doesn't work properly...

I think Telkom's "do" webpage requires flash to work properly. Also, if you're using something like Noscript that prevents active content without explicitly being enabled, that might also be the cause of the problem.
