I got the R1 Takealot 4G sim just as an add-on for an order I made. It was delivered this morning so thought I would RICA and test the speeds.

I currently use Telkom LTE-A in a B618 and get about 100mbits all day long so was reluctant to try anything else.

Anyway, I RICAed the Rain sim and activated the 19 hours package. I see it was R1 with 7 days unlimited or something. Im assuming they debit me after the 7 days for the R250 pro rata.

Anyway, I am getting 30mbits down and 10mbits up. I initially tested it in an iphone and then changed sims in my router. Im working from home so will test it but so far so good.

Anyway, I have a few questions if someone could assist:
- when i inserted it into the iphone it downloaded settings profiles etc
- when I inserted into the B618 it didnt do so, and I see it is still on the unrestricted APN I used with telkom? Or is the APN embedded into the SIM that the router is using?
- Cell ID is 90232676 as a matter of interest, no antenna and full signal 4G, but not 4G+, does this make a difference?

The streaming limit does suck, but so far Im impressed, and its a welcome change from all the negativity. Flame away lol.

Same router and I used to get twice the speeds you are getting. 60 down and 20 up. No flame. Welcome to the club.

Is there a limit on the 19 hour package at R250 a month? I'm referring to YouTube streaming, I thought it was limited to 360p or is that just the 24/7 package?

Only limit on the 19hr package is time. 19hrs. No other limit besides your connection or speeds. No throttling as far as I know. The 24/7 package is the one that has streaming throttled on YouTube and Netflix.

Yea it is. One of the best in the country. Issue for most has been speeds. Then connection. Then lack of support when one struggles with connection. Then disconnection. Then further lack of support to get reconnected.
