I seem to be having a problem where 3/10 when I'm eating food will go down the wrong pipe. I'm not eating too quickly or speaking or anything like that but it still happens.
Any thoughts as to what is causing this? Going to see my doctor later on this afternoon but you guys have never steered me wrong so figured I'd ask here aswell.

Thats weird. Your airway is supposed to close due to an automatic feature when you swallow. Have the same problem with drinking liquids? Always had this problem?

(and i didn't think of sex, because there it would have been phrased "up the wrong...")

Have the problem when I drink carbonated drinks(since stopped) but this is a new problem (less than a month).

I don't have it quite as bad as you seem to. But I experience this every now and then. Mine is usually because of not paying attention though. If I lose focus on eating completely. Sometimes I will go to swallow and then for some reason try to take a breath half way through that swallow and start coughing.
Probably not exactly the same as you, unless you space out more often than me, which I doubt is possible. But I do get the sense that something is not quite right with the way my throat works. It hasn't got me concerned enough to see a doc yet though.

My housemate chokes when she drinks water. Only water. Tea, coffee, soup, wine whatever, no problem. Water ... cough splutter choke ...

Dude, with a title like this you really should do it justice, someone tell us a funny story about the time they went in for the wrong hole and got blocked or tuned . yes think disgusting, i have a story but it's not that great i am sure someone has done more than try slip a finger. Not looking for guys who get it.

Huh..the only thing wrong with my title in the OP is "aswell" unless you can enlighten us kind sir. Saw the mis-spelt Title and didn't want to bother a mod when 90% of the people entering the thread knew what I was on about.
