The Hawks have seized computers and cellphones owned by the Cederberg municipality in Western Cape as part of their investigations into corruption in the municipality, police said on Sunday.

"Yes, we conducted a search and seizure operation on Friday 12 April as part of an investigation into the municipality in Clanwilliam," said Hawks spokesperson Captain Paul Ramoloko.

Democratic Alliance leader in Cederberg Helmar Geyer said the Hawks had to clamp down on the "corruption riddled" ANC-run municipality.

"After continuous protests and outcries from the DA about the total mismanagement of the municipality at the hands of the African National Congress, action is finally being taken," said Geyer.

The Hawks investigation comes after the DA in Cederberg wrote to the Public Protector Thuli Madonsela alerting her of "various issues of corruption and mismanagement".

"The DA is very happy with the progress that is being made in the investigation. We are confident that the complete truth of the ANC mismanagement in Cederberg will come to light," said Geyer.

Efforts to get immediate comment from the municipality were not successful.

So few municipalities in the Western Cape are still ANC run, yet they are still corrupt and incompetent beyond measure.

Regain control of the Western Cape in 2014? Quite the pipe dream.

The DA are at it again. Always criticizing the ANC and corruption and crime. WTF they are worse then me. They never have something good to say about the ruling party. When is that "access to information and publication" act coming? The ANC needs it and they need it NOW.

Can you tell me any changes that DA implemented since taking over WC?

Ohh you must visit Khayelitsha, Lwandle, gugulethu and other areas to see that da is doing nothing.

You want me to visit refugee camps?

Tell, you what, next time I'm down that way let's make a plan and you can shoiw me around.

Did you eat your crayons again?

This is the DA's job as both the official opposition and ruling party. So well done to them!

Post a video tour for us who aren't in the Cape please. If you could point out the changes the ANC made during it's 10 year tenure that would go a long way to assisting us in putting a damper on the DA's efforts. ktxbai

What? When was the last time you frequented any of these places? Look here, I’ve grown up here, I know this “Lallaland”. The majority of those places have been upgraded; Khayelitsha even has its own wireless network, shopping mall which is actually freakin good looking (very similar to the one in Mitchell’s Plain), quality roads and facilities. The problem however is vandalism, theft etc. I have been involved a while back in these development, the people is really good to work with, but there is firm ANC supporting opposition. One of the best engineers, who did his share, got brutally murdered while being hijacked on his back from a site in Khayelitsha, then the some people want to know when everything is happening?

The same goes for Lwandle (which has a good share of poor whites who live in harmony amongst their fellow citizens) and Gugulethu. This is not the only places which are being developed, although at a slow pace.

The major concern is with coloured areas; their municipalities do receive the funds. I have seen the allocation to recreational areas and where this money is wasted… They do need better management. The DA is most definitely not in charge with BEE negotiations in regard with developments and contractors.

My dad was doing survey work a couple of years ago in Gugulethu and got shot on the job.
He was in involved in a project to pave the pathways and clean up the area.
Some drugged up teenagers shot him for his phone
Hes fine now though

So what happened to the “Spirit of selfless sacrifice, revolutionary discipline and volunteerism” Marius Fransman was calling for while he was recruiting people to make the Western Cape ungovern... I mean, fight the DA in the next election? I guess sacrifice, discipline and volunteerism are exactly what they want from the fodder but Lord knows the cadres abhor that kind of deviant behaviour themselves.
Pretty sure the investigation will identify the guilty parties but I'm 100% certain they will never be sanctioned by the party or the justice system. :(
