Hi Guys,

My 2tb Western Digital 3.5" external hard drive is not reading on my windows 7 laptop. When I connect it to my laptop it immediately starts to make a beeping noise. Click here to listen to the noise

What is wrong?

Thanks for the help :)

Hi, your drive is suffering from an internal fault where the heads are stuck to the platters. The more you power it on the more you will damage the drive surface.

If you require the data you will require professional data recovery services, such as ours. There are no actual data recovery labs in Durban, only offices for some of the other recovery companies.

Thanks for the feedback. Is the drive itself repairable? I have all my series, movies and music on it!!

The drive is not repairable, as in it cannot be used again, no. It can be recovered, yes, if the data is worth the recovery fee.

Thanks Southbit, I don't think the data is worth recovering :)

Ok, so I found my purchase receipt and I bought the HDD on 21/12/2012. I checked Western Digital website and it's still under warranty ( checked against my serial number). Going to call Game this morning to see what my options are...

PS - I don't have the original AC adapter, would this be a problem?
