I realised it was a joke, just a very poor one. I know it’s not fashionable to stay on topic on an internet forum though. So guess it’d my mistake for asking a semi serious question here and expecting semi serious answers

Just go grab some organic fertilizer, you really can't harm a plant by using too much or too little etc. The chemical fertilizers are way more exact.

Failing that you can just make your own fertilizer, just get a bucket and keep your banana peels and coffee grounds in them soaked in water for a week or two.

Also for aphids and the like you can also use dish-washing liquid.

Neighbors Lemon tree overhangs in our driveway, and we pick from there every year.
Decided to try to grow one, and it's up to about 30cm now (about a year old).

You're likely to get kak fruit off that tree.

Instead, use it as root stock and graft a branch from the original tree onto it.

That way you will also get fruit much sooner.

a braai session. No jokes. After that it started doing much better

There's a lemon tree by us, that thing is probably 50 years old and around 5m tall + 6m in diameter.
It's currently full of lemons just like every year.

Doesn't get a drop of water the whole winter. Survives off summer rain.
It's outlived about 3 lawns which all died the last 15 years.
Only gets some fertilizer when new lawns get planted every 4-5ish years.
Never had any pesticides.
Only gets a tiny bit of pruning when branches start rubbing on the outbuildings.


Your tree is a baby. Good fertilizer and water to compensate for the small root system.
When it's big it will need very little work.

I have 2 young lemon trees in large pot plants probably 3-4 years old but really struggling with aphids. Dont want to use chemicals as both have fruit right now . Will try neem oil and dishwasher .
