Hi All

I'm looking to purchase an entry level 3d printer to play with.
Ideally with very good resolution.

What is the best option to get (happy to import if need be)?
Budget is between 5 - 8k

Buy one that has a lot of other users like the I3 mentioned above. Its something that will need to be worked on frequently so the more support you have the better.

The Reprap in no way looks good.
There are some that look semi-decent however such as the Pirx One

What kind of things are you wanting to print? Functional parts or just random stuff you've modelled / downloaded?

The PirX One *looks* good, but as mentioned, is out of the budget. However, we've had some reasonably decent results with the i3 from 3dprintingstore. One bought complete as a kit, and another bought as a frame kit, and the rest made up of parts already owned.

The main thing is to be prepared to tinker with it yourself to get the best results. Understand that the kit price is the cost to "get in the game", and that you are likely to be upgrading it for a while to come, mostly with parts you print yourself (i.e. cost of plastic, time, and research), but also other mechanical parts where you think you can do a better job. e.g. replacement extruder, etc, etc
